micropsi industries is a next-wave AI company developing techniques for learning neurosymbolic representations, closing the gap between subsymbolic neural information processing (e.g. in computer vision or motor control) and symbolic artificial intelligence tasks (such as planning, reasoning and communication).

micropsi industries has roots in the AGI research community. While the ambitious goals of AGI will be beyond the reach of commercially viable R&D work for a while, our AGI roots do inform our perspective on AI applications: We develop generic systems, striving to commercialize the most well-understood AGI results. Our current focus is on motivation - how intelligent systems decide what to learn and how to allocate cognitive resources - and learning neurosymbolic representations - how to learn models that are both applicable in the messy real world and lend themselves to symbolic use (i.e., can be read and understood by humans, and are suitable for logical planning operations).

micropsi industries GmbH was founded in 2014. Most of the team works out of Berlin, with the exception of Joscha Bach, who teaches AI at the MIT Media Lab.
